Offers cost-effective 1/16-brick isolated analog DC/DC converters for telecom applications

Flex Power Modules has now introduced the latest product model PKU4913D of its 1/16th brick PKU-D series of analog DC/DC converters. The new converter offers excellent electrical and thermal performance at an affordable cost.

Its efficiency is as high as 94.6% at 48V input voltage and full load condition. The new converter is mainly aimed at telecom applications and has an input voltage range of 36V to 75V, which meets the requirements of the European telecom standard ETS 300 132-2 for the normal input voltage range in -48Vdc and -60Vdc systems.

It can provide up to 8.3A of output current at 12V output voltage, which can provide 100W of output power, and the output voltage can be fine-tuned by 10%. Its input to output isolation voltage is 2250V.

The converter is available with an optional backplane that is primarily thermally conductive through the device enclosure. Product performance can be guaranteed under this heat dissipation condition, and no derating will occur when the device case temperature is 100°C.

The PKU4913D is available as an industry standard ultra-thin 1/16th brick, measuring 33.02mm x 22.86mm x 11.30mm (1.3in x 0.9in x 0.44in). The converter features advanced overvoltage, overtemperature, and short circuit protection mechanisms for improved reliability and longevity. Its mean time between failures (MTBF) is 13.88 million hours.

Like all Flextronics power module DC/DC converters, the PKU4913D complies with IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 safety requirements. The device operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

The PKU4913D will be available in February 2021.
